Comments from Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips following a win Sunday over the Detroit Lions:

After a rough start to last Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, the Cowboys had to make some adjustments to stop a daunting running attack.

On their first posession Detroit ran for 63 yards on only 4 carries. It appeared that the Cowboys didn’t expect them to run at all. However, Wade Phillips said the defense made some good adjustments to limit their run game for the rest of the day.

Indeed for the rest of the game Detroit only ran for 89 yards on 28 carries, a dramatic improvement. This was mainly due to better focus and awareness that the Lions didn’t plan to pass the ball every down.

Phillips also commented on the status of injured players. Anthony Henry and Terence Newman looked a little rusty on Sunday. Newman is being treated this week for a sore knee and ankle, but should be ready to go this Sunday.

Patrick Crayton also suffered a foot injury during the game, but was able to finish. He is receiving treatment this week and is not expected to miss any time.

Fellow WR Terry Glenn is going to see increased practice time this week and may be available to play in next weeks game against Carolina according to Jerry Jones. This is some news we have been hoping to hear since Glenn underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in September…keep your fingers crossed.
