Terrell Owens probably has declined a little over the past two years, but he is still one of the top receivers in the league. He is a pro bowl caliber wide receiver! He still had over 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

The bigger question is, will trading Terrell Owens help the Cowboys team chemistry? His teammates seem to get along with T.O., even though he is the most outspoken player on the team.

The Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. Adding more big name players is not going to help them. They need new players and/or coaches who can add to the team chemistry. Lately all the players that Jerry Jones has added seem to take away from the “team” concept.

Terrell is a team player, regardless of public opinion. He wants to win more than any player in the league. Who works harder than T.O.? When he speaks out it is always out of frustration when the Cowboys are struggling. I think he is a great influence on the young players. His work ethic is unparalleled in today’s NFL.

So do we really want to trade Terrell Owens? Not a chance. The Cowboys need to make some changes, but Jerry needs to look elsewhere.

What is surprising is that certain ESPN reporters have chosen to manufacture a rift between Owens and…well, anyone within earshot. After a meeting this week between offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and 3 of his receivers, ESPN reported that Owens was complaining that he is not involved enough in the offense. Never mind that the purpose of the meeting was to try to get everyone on the same page for the season’s home stretch.

So, ESPN decided that there must be some bad blood between Owens and TE Jason Witten. Since Witten leads the team in receptions and is the best friend of QB Tony Romo, he must be the one T.O. is mad at right? For some reason ESPN feels that if the Cowboys are meeting to try to get the offense working better together, there must be internal issues that need to be reported on!

Really? So the next time I hear anyone complain about the New York media being too hard on their local heros I will have to laugh. No one seems to care that in the days leading up to this rematch star Giants WR, Plaxico Burress, has been arrested and suspended from the team. Oh, and the Giants defensive standout Antonio Pierce aided Burress in covering up a felony and obstructing a police investigation?

Today, ESPN reports that Burress attended a fundraiser for the homeless at a New York club. Are you joking me? Could the New York cheerleaders at ESPN give me a break. How about you report on the games! What a novel concept.

Come on ESPN, you are better than this. Do some work and find some real stories. Stop being lazy and making up controversy where there is none.

I’ll be sad to see you go Wade, I am a huge fan. I mean, how can you not be a fan of such a seemingly nice guy. The players love you, the media loves you, and Jerry loves you. The problem is, we love winning more.

Of course it isn’t coach Phillips’ fault that the Cowboys have suffered so many injuries. They began the first day of camp. Wide receivers started going down, then defensive backs, now more recently running backs and the quarter back. There are too many injuries to list here, but you all know them.

The bottom line is, the players who ARE playing, are NOT playing with any fire…or heart. Is that Wade Phillips fault? I don’t know, I’ve never played in the NFL. But I do know that if I were paid as much as these guys and were so close to a very special team, I’d be playing with a sense of urgency…they aren’t.

I think T.O. sees it, but every time he speaks out he is seen as being disruptive by the media. Well guess what…this team needs some disruption. They are on a path to destruction.

I’ll miss you Wade, but it is a lot easier to fire the coach than the whole team!

Well…yes and no. Roy Williams the safety has been a member of the Cowboys since being drafted out of the University of Oklahoma in 2002. But he hasn’t played much this year since suffering an injury in the first game of the season.

Roy Williams, the wide receiver, has been a member of the Detroit Lions since being drafted in 2004 out of the University of Texas.

Today the Cowboys traded 3 draft picks to the Detroit Lions to acquire the receiver Roy Williams. This comes after a rash of injuries has hit the team. This week alone they lost starting QB Tony Romo for 3-4 weeks, star rookie RB Felix Jones for 2-4 weeks, punter Mat McBriar for the season. More importantly, receiver Sam Hurd re-aggravated a leg injury that may require season ending surgery.

Williams will pair with Terrell Owens, to give Dallas one of the top WR tandems in the league. Patrick Crayton will likely see reduced playing time as Roy Williams will be worked into the lineup quickly.

This move should give the Cowboys a little more depth and firepower at the WR position. Hopefully that will loosen things up a bit for the running backs. I look for Marion Barber to have a big game this week against the St. Louis Rams.

The Dallas Cowboys have never been short on high strung athletes who have a big ego. Martellus does fit the mold. But, if he doesn’t learn to work a little and listen to more experienced players and coaches, his stint in the NFL will be a short one.

Coming from Texas A&M, this is a bit surprising. Most players come out of the school with a strong work ethic. He just may have enough talent to overcome it though. Maybe Terrell Owens can teach him how he made it work!
