As the Cowboys second string running back, Jones has seen time in 4 of the teams first 5 games. In each of those 4 games, he has scored a touchdown. He is averaging 9 yards per carry on his 27 carries so far, with 3 touchdowns on the ground. He has also returned 15 kickoffs for the team, averaging 27.5 yards per return including a 98 yard return for a touchdown.

That isn’t bad for his first month in the NFL. It does make one wonder why he didn’t see any playing time during the Cowboys only loss of the season, 26-24 to the Redskins.

I’m guessing we will only see more and more of the young phenom. He has only caught 2 passes so far, but he has shown that he can be valuable as a receiver out of the backfield. This may make him valuable in 3rd down situations.

Marion Barber has also looked strong this season as the number 1 running back for the Cowboys, so playing time may be scarce for the rookie. But keep an eye on Felix Jones, he has already made an impact on one of the NFLs strongest teams and I expect he will only improve in the future.
